Wow, where do I even begin!?! Yesterday was such an exciting, surreal, powerful day! I was asked to be part of a Power Play panel hosted by Cover FX, Create & Cultivate & Live Tinted – a brand I truly love and use, a platform for women chasing their dreams, and a new start up that champions diversity in the beauty world, respectively. How cool is that? The best part was the topic on hand – the importance of diversity in beauty and why inclusion matters.
I had the honor of sitting alongside some powerhouse personalities including my dear friend & she-EO Deepica Mutyala (@deepica), my new mancrush with the most velvety skin Victor Ramos (@vicmram), clean beauty guru Tashina Combs (@logicalharmony), and the sweet, talented Ajiona Alexus (@ajionaalexus). The most powerful part for me was that we all came together to represent the very core of diversity in beauty – not only with our skin tones, but with our unique perspectives.
For me, it was really important to touch on what I hope for my kids as they grow up in today’s world as it relates to beauty standards specifically with the relevance of social media. In a nutshell for me my main point was that I want not only my daughter, but both my kids, to be able to admire other people’s beauty and accolades without questioning their own. There is room for ALL of us and I truly do believe that. We live streamed the whole event but if you missed it I uploaded it to my Youtube channel and linked it below as well!
