Let’s take it back to the basics, shall we? My skincare routine is constantly evolving and that’s because as I get older, my needs are different. What I used in my 20’s or even my early 30’s has changed – a lot! But if there’s one thing that has remained a constant, it’s that I make my skincare a top priority. I like to think of my skin as my canvas. If it’s set up properly and treated well makeup application will be that much easier and look that much better.
I have to mention that I started using anti-aging products pretty regularly around 25. My mom has always been adamant about her skincare regime and I took after her (she’s turning 70 in January and looks 50!). Back then I would use a good moisturizer with sunscreen (my trusted
Here are a few rules I like to keep in mind with skincare for my 30’s
1- MAKEUP AS SKINCARE:
Makeup can actually be considered a skincare product! Most women don’t use enough sunscreen so a layer of foundation or BB cream acts as a barrier between UV light and your skin. I learned this tip from this Byrdie article and have lived by it since! You don’t have to go crazy with the coverage but it’s a different way to look at how you use your makeup.
2- DON’T STRIP YOUR SKIN:
I used to use an exfoliator as a cleanser daily (this doesn’t mean stop exfoliating all together) and realized I needed to lay off a bit. Most women in their 30s can encounter rosacea so you want to boost hydration. I love the INSTYTUTUM cleansing milk and FRESH Soy Face Cleanser
Our neck and hands tell our age too and often times women forget to pay attention to this area. Just remember to drag down your products down a little to make sure you’re showing some love to that area. You’ll reap the benefits down the line! When masking I always add some to my neck and always moisturize my neck too.
5- USE A WEEKLY MASK
I used to love masks to pamper myself but now it’s something I need to do to really keep my skin plump and fresh. And nowadays they’re more effective than ever. They really just help put a pep in your step. One of my faves is the Ranavat Botanics Eternal Reign Mask
6- PAY EVEN MORE ATTENTION TO YOUR EYES
A nice rich cream used to cut it but now we really need moisture around this thin-skinned area. I love anything with hyaluronic acid which helps retain moisture and plumps or fills the eye area.
7- ADD VITAMIN C TO YOUR ROUTINE:
Boosting collagen is huge at this time so incorporate some vitamin c into your routine. No 7 Youthful Vitamin C Serum is a drugstore find and I love it!
8- DON’T FORGET YOUR TOOLS!
I have been using my GloPro microneedling tool and have noticeably seen my skin’s tone and texture improve. This is legit an at-home professional facial!
9- WE STILL NEED TO PREVENT BREAKOUTS!
If you still have minor breakouts it’s normal. We may have outgrown our teens but our hormones are still changing constantly. I love the Neutrogena Light Therapy Pen to help prevent breakouts.
And now, I put this all in a little video for you where I’m showing my basic nigh time routine at the moment. Again, as I mentioned, my routine is constantly changing and I usually introduce a new product every 3-6 months.

You’re 39, not 36. Please update the title. It’s best to be honest. Even your Instagram post for your bday says you’re 39.
