I’ve always loved the way fur vests look but never really knew if they were worth the investment. I mean my Pinterest page is full of outfit inspos featuring this statement piece but it wasn’t until recently I pulled the trigger and made the purchase and I couldn’t be happier! But, it got me thinking that lots of girls out there may not know how easy it is to amp up any outfit with this staple and completely transform it. I teamed up with my girl, Nasreen Shahi, fellow mama and the cutest emerging fashion blogger. Seriously gals, she started her blog like 2 minutes ago and is so dedicated to her work and growing quickly (side note: for those looking to start blogging check out Nasreen’s insta @heynasreen to see how her continuity & consistency have helped her grow so quickly).
On to our style challenge – we both already had black fur vests in our closets and thought it’d be perfect with winter approaching to show how easy it is to accessorize for day or night. I scored my faux fur from shoptiques and I love that it’s a little longer which makes it more versatile.
Let’s start with our pop-of-color look:
I absolutely adore how Nasreen paired her vest with a gold sequin skirt! It makes the entire outfit so chic. I wanted to show how you could take a traditional maxi and really change the vibe with one piece. I got this Nadia Tarr maxi dress on super sale from Nordstrom Rack last season and love how this vest transforms it into a more bohemian chic ensemble. I paired it with my Cult Gaia clurch and some layered necklaces.
For our second look we went with something more casual:
I love a good sweater dress and this one from Sweet Glitter Rock has become a regular in my rotation! It’s unfortunately sold out in every size (I’m wearing a M because I like my stuff a little more loose these days!) but I’m linking a similar style here and a super budget friendly option here. The vest totally adds a different element to my outfit and I love these Joie OTK boots because they work for day or night. I absolutely love how Nasreen paired her vest with different patterns like a true fashionista! I would’ve never thought to pair flannel with leopard pumps and this whole look is just too cute. I need some cute cuffed jeans like hers stat!
And for our final look, we both opted for neutrals:
I love this look so much because it’s the easiest way to incorporate a statement piece like a fur vest. You can wear it over a LBD or pair it with a black pleather skirt and silk blouse like I did. It’s also great when you want that extra layer of coziness. I love mini skirts but am not used to wearing one a ton these days since I have 2 little ones to run around after. The vest makes it feel a little more approachable and something I could wear to drinks or a GNO. I also added my fave snakeskin pumps and a statement necklace from Anoki Boutique (love their jewerly!!!). How gorgeous is Nasreen in her black OTN boots?! This mama of 3 so effortlessly puts together her outfits and her style is so chic and on point. I love how she paired her vest with a light sweater and topped it off with a statement necklace making it the perfect outfit for a night out during the holidays!
